STRESS AND HEALTH

Stress is a natural part of life. There are lessons to be learned and ways to continually improve your response to stress. Everyone has stress but the difference, in my opinion, is how you cope with the stress. How you deal with it, how you perceive, your attitude about it all play vital roles in handling your future stress. Stress can be a great motivator sometimes and can be a great teacher for us. There are many wonderful and joyous things in life like getting married, having a baby and moving that all are stressful but joyous. Remember there is good stress too. There is always a lesson in it for us if we care enough to look deeper.

Stress affects many organs and systems in the body. Adrenal glands are out of balance, the hypothalamus in the brain is affected, the hormones and neurotransmitters also incur some problems. Stress is about the "flight or fight response". Stress also affects the levels of serotonin, cortisol and DHEA and dopamine. It depletes many vitamins and minerals, especially B vitamins. Stress does weaken the immune system and makes it more difficult to fight infections and colds.

There are many factors that contribute to good health. Some of these include nutrition, less toxins in the body, exercise, a good diet and surrounding yourself with a group of happy and healthy friends. Emotions and attitude play a big role in optimal health.

We also know some of the things that stress the body the most. The blockers of healing so to speak.

Nutritional deficiencies
Toxins
Food and environmental allergies
Sugar and caffeine
Emotions and Attitude
